Change lives through VOLUNTEERING

People taking part in a BOWRA activity together

Volunteers are at the heart of what we do, helping create welcoming, supportive spaces where people feel understood and included.

Volunteering with the BOWRA Foundation is flexible and shaped around each individual, whether that means getting involved once or supporting our work on a more regular basis.

Who can volunteer

Volunteering with BOWRA Foundation is open to everyone. We welcome people from all backgrounds, including those with lived experience, family members, carers, students, professionals and members of the wider community. Many volunteers work alongside our military veterans, bringing different skills, experiences and perspectives together.

How volunteers support our work

Volunteers support BOWRA in a range of practical and meaningful ways. Roles are flexible and shaped around individual interests, skills and availability.

Supporting activities and community sessions

Helping welcome people, offer encouragement and support activities in a friendly, inclusive environment.

Helping at events and fundraisers

Supporting events, awareness days or fundraising activities, from set-up to welcoming attendees.

BOWRA Bag project support

Be part of an exciting project to grow our BOWRA Bag offer.

Peer mentors

From attending activities to visiting BOWRA Bag recipients offering a listening ear to our BOWRA community.

Behind-the-scenes or administrative support

Helping with organisation, coordination or general support that keeps our work running smoothly.

Supporting challenges and fundraising initiatives

Helping with sponsored challenges, events or awareness activities, either by taking part or supporting others.

Time Commitment

There is no fixed expectation around time. Some people volunteer once, others return regularly, and some support specific projects as and when they can. We work with individuals to find an arrangement that feels manageable and sustainable.
