Summer 2026 has got off to a flying start
What a way to kick off the warmer months. From the Forest of Dean to the waterfront at Hamworthy and the greens of Bournemouth Bowls Club, the BOWRA community has been out, active, and making memories. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to.
Adventure in the Forest of Dean with MAD Adventures
There were more than a few “pinch me” moments when our group headed to the Forest of Dean for a residential adventure weekend with MAD Adventures CIC. Laughter, happy tears, and a whole lot of bravery from our BOWRA bunch. New friendships were made, misconceptions were challenged, and memories were created that will last a long time.
The weekend is designed for adults living with acquired brain injury, alongside their family members and carers, with all activities adapted to individual needs by experienced instructors. It’s inclusive, supportive, and genuinely fun.
It went so well we’re heading back for a second weekend on 19th to 21st June.
BOWRA on the water at Hamworthy Park
Good vibes and sunshine at Hamworthy Park as veterans joined our community of brain injury survivors for a water activity session run by the brilliant Simon and Sheila at South Coast Adventures Ltd. There really is something special about seeing a diverse group of people come together with the same purpose, and the weather did its bit too.
Community support comes in many forms and this was a great reminder of what it looks like in action.
Lawn bowls is back for another season
It must be summer! Liz and the team at Bournemouth Bowls Club have welcomed us back for another season and this year there’s a new addition. For those who want to take their game further, coaching is on offer, so who knows, there might be a future star within the BOWRA community.
Fancy giving it a go? Get in touch to find out more and join us at a future session.
