£250,000 Grant to Expand Brain Injury Support for Veterans Across the South-West
BOWRA Foundation is proud to announce the launch of our Building Resilience After Brain Injury programme, supporting veterans, their families, and carers affected by acquired brain injury.
Thanks to a £250,000 grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, this project will expand our work across the South-West of England, replicating the successful model of delivery developed in Poole, helping bridge the gap between clinical care and community recovery.
Our CEO, Sue Mosley, shares:
“This grant allows us to grow our proven Dorset model across the South-West, working collaboratively to deliver a truly needs-led, coordinated approach. It also strengthens the development of the BOWRA Bag, our national initiative as we look towards future growth across the UK.”
What this means in practice:
Early support when it matters most, during hospital stays and the critical months after brain injury/diagnosis.
The BOWRA Bag, providing practical tools to support rehabilitation and independence.
Ongoing, personal follow-up from our team and trained volunteers to offer a safe, welcoming community in which to start their journey with BOWRA.
Peer-led activities to rebuild confidence, skills, and connection.
We know the positive impact that BOWRA has on those who join us on their recovery journey. Demand for this kind of support is growing, and we are excited that this grant will enable us to respond to the needs of those joining the BOWRA community.
